Value Line

What is it?

  • Value Line provides key up-to-date information on stocks, mutual funds, options, convertible securities, and special situation stocks.

  • Features include daily market updates, an economic calendar, and multiple research tools, alongside instructional videos and tutorials to help users grow their investing portfolios.

Getting Started

Access Value Line through any web browser:

  1. Go to the library’s website and click on the orange Research & Learning button and then on the Articles, Research & Information button.

  2. From the A-Z Databases list, you can use the subject drop-down menu to filter the list by Business & Investing resources or find Value Line alphabetically. You will be redirected to log in. 

  3. Find Value Line in the list and click Login required - click here. 

  4. Enter your library card barcode number and 4-digit PIN. Once you are logged in, Click Value Line. 

Using Value Line

  1. Use Value Line by searching for a specific stock or mutual fund, reading daily market updates and newsletters, learning more about investment with instructional articles and videos, and exploring tools such as the stock screener or model portfolios. 

  2. Search for something specific by typing the ticker (e.g. DIS or RCL) or company name (e.g. Disney) in the box in the upper right of the page. Scroll through the different modules to view the company's information. To see the report as it looks in the print edition, click on PDF Reports and select a date.

  3. Click on the Markets tab to read articles on today’s stock market and view Value Line's economic calendar.

  4. Use the Find Ideas tab to access Value Line’s stock screener and portfolio tools that help you track companies to aide in your investment choices.

  5. Click the Instructional Education tab to browse educational information on investment. It includes tool guides, FAQs, a glossary, instructional videos, and Value Line University which provides users with an overview on investing and creating portfolios.

  6. To read this week’s Selection & Opinion, click the Dashboard tab and, under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the page, click Selection & Opinion. It will open in PDF format.
