Job & Career Accelerator

What is it?

Job & Career Accelerator provides tools for creating resumes and cover letters, includes over 1,000 occupations to explore, and provides strategies for successful interviewing and networking. It also includes job listings through Indeed.com and USA Jobs. 

Getting Started

Access Job & Career Accelerator through any web browser:

  1. Go to the library’s website and click on the orange Research & Learning button and then on the Articles, Research, & Information button.

  2. From the A-Z Databases list, you can use the subject drop-down menu to filter the list by Careers & Testing resources or find Job & Career Accelerator alphabetically. You will be redirected to log in. 

  3. Find Job & Career Accelerator in the list and click Login required - click here. 

  4. Enter your library card barcode number and 4-digit PIN. Once you are logged in, click Job & Career Accelerator. 

  5. You must create an account to use these materials. Click the blue Sign In/Register button in the upper right of the page.

  6. Click Register and select Library Card. Type your barcode number into the box and click Create Account.

  7. You can register using an email address or click “Register without email” to create your own username. Fill out the form and click the blue Register button.

Using Job & Career Accelerator

  1. Content is divided into 7 sections: Build Resumes and Job Letters, Find a Career Match, Explore Occupations, Search for Jobs and Internships, Prepare for an Interview, Career eBooks Library, and Discover Schools and Scholarships.

  2. Use Build Resumes and Job Letters for tutorials and tools that give you step-by-step instructions for building the most effect resumes and cover letters.

  3. Find a Career Match allows you to take quizzes that will match your skills and interests to different occupations.

  4.  Use Explore Occupations to get more information about the skills and knowledge required for various positions, the types of activities they perform, salary information, and other related jobs. This also includes registered apprenticeships and a tool for military personnel to explore civilian occupations that are similar to their military jobs. You may browse occupations under different categories or search by keyword.

  5. Search for Jobs and Internships allows you to search and apply for positions through Indeed and USA Jobs.

  6. Use Prepare for an Interview to view tutorials and eBooks that help you succeed with every step of the job interview process.

  7. Career eBooks Library contains downloadable eBooks with helpful information for different career paths.

  8. The Discover Schools and Scholarships tool helps those seeking to further their education.

  9. Click on the section you would like to begin using and click Launch Career Tool, Start Tutorial, or Download eBook.

  10. You can print or save occupation cards, job listings, resumes, and cover letters to your account to access again later by clicking your name in the upper right and going to My Center.
