What is it?

  • Home Improvement Reference Center, powered by EBSCOhost, is designed to assist homeowners in do-it-yourself home repair, maintenance, and remodeling projects.

  • It contains how-to guides on a wide range of home improvement topics, such as plumbing, woodwork, and decorating, detailed pictures and charts, and step-by-step project instructions.

Getting Started

Access Home Improvement Reference Center through any web browser:

  1. Go to the library’s website and click on the orange Research & Learning button and then on the Articles, Research & Information button.

  2. From the A-Z Databases list, you can use the subject drop-down menu to filter the list by Home & Garden resources or find Home Improvement Reference Center alphabetically. Enter your library card barcode number where it asks for Patron ID. 

Using Home Improvement Reference Center

  1. Use Home Improvement Reference Center by either typing in your query in the Basic Search field or browsing the available topics and subcategories on the homepage.

  2. Basic Search allows you to enter a word or phrase. Search suggestions will appear as you begin to type your term(s). Advanced Search gives you options to use multiple search terms and narrow results by factors such as date and peer reviewed articles.

  3. Click on an item in your results list to view the record which will display the publication information. Click the Access Now button to be taken to either the PDF or Online Full Text article.

  4. Use the tools buttons in the upper right of the page to download, save, or share the article. You can also use the cite button to create a citation.

  5. To use the “Add to Project" button to save information for access at another time, you must register for an account with EBSCO.
