What is it?

  • Home Improvement Collection features more than 4.5 million articles related to home improvement and repair.

  • It covers topics including architectural techniques, tool and material selection, zoning requirements, and more.

Getting Started

Access Home Improvement Collection through any web browser:

  1. Go to the library’s website and click on the orange Research & Learning button and then on the Articles, Research & Information button.

  2. From the A-Z Databases list , you can use the subject drop-down menu to filter the list by Home & Garden resources or find Home Improvement Collection alphabetically. In the sign-in box, enter your library card number where it asks for a password. 

  3. Note: You may sign in with your own Google or Microsoft account if you would like to upload articles to your Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive, but it is not required to use the database.

Using Home Improvement Collection

  1. Use Home Improvement Collection by 1) typing in your query in the Search field, 2) choosing Advanced Search for more search options, or 3) using the Topic Finder, Subject Guide Search, or Publication Search buttons on the home page. The Publication Search includes a browsable list of all the publications found in the database. 

  2. Each article’s web page provides publication information at the top. You also have the option to listen to an audio version of the article or download the .mp3 recording by clicking the “Listen” button found below the publication information. The explore column will show you more content related to the article you are viewing. 

  3. The cite button allows you to create a citation for the article in multiple citation styles. The Highlights and Notes feature allows you to make annotations within an article. You may e-mail, download, and print a .pdf of the article, as well as upload it to your Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive.
