Jobseeker speaks with a Firkins auto representativeJobseekers can cast their nets wide at Downtown Library's Annual Hiring Fair, Monday, September 23, from 1 to 4 PM, with over 50 hiring agencies planning to attend.

This year’s theme is “Explore New Waters.” The idea, according to Manatee Libraries’ Information Services Supervisor, Ericka Dow, is to attract those people who live here in Manatee County but work outside of the County, as well as those in nearby counties, who are not aware of the diverse job opportunities available.

“Many jobseekers might not have had time to research job opportunities in our local market. Downtown Library’s Hiring Fair brings samples of those possible places of employment in one convenient location,” said Dow.

Representatives will be on hand from the financial, construction, mechanical, education, government, health/medical, hospitality, retail and senior living industries, along with community and employment agencies.

One of Manatee Libraries’ partners for this year’s Hiring Fair is Manatee County Government. Heidi Raymond, Human Resources Recruiter, said they will have a large recruiting presence, representing numerous departments.

“It will be an excellent opportunity for job seekers to explore career opportunities with Manatee County Government,” said Raymond.

Dow recommends that jobseekers bring copies of their resumes and dress to impress. Free resume consultations will be available by Goodwill Manasota Job Connection.

Attendees who register in the First Floor lobby will be eligible for prizes, including gift cards and gift baskets. Winners will be notified by email or phone after a random drawing.

Many companies also provide promotional items at their tables. Coffee will be made available on the Second Floor, in the lounge area outside of Area 52.

Downtown Central Library is located at 1301 Barcarrota Boulevard West, Bradenton 34205. The event will take place in the First Floor Auditorium, Meeting Room and Second Floor.
