MANATEE COUNTY, FL (April 1, 2025) – Manatee County is now accepting applications for the Opioid Impact Grant, a new opportunity for local agencies providing substance abuse and mental health services to help combat the opioid crisis in our community. Grant applications are open through May 1.
In 2018, the State of Florida filed a lawsuit against opioid manufacturers and distributors, holding them accountable for their roles in the opioid crisis.
Manatee County is expected to receive $43 million in regional abatement funds over the next 18 years. These funds will support a range of programs aimed at addressing substance abuse and mental health issues in the region.
“Manatee County is committed to addressing the opioid crisis head-on, and the Opioid Impact Grant is a critical step in supporting our community's efforts to provide effective substance abuse and mental health services,” said Manatee County At-Large Commissioner Jason Bearden. “By leveraging opioid settlement funds, we are empowering local organizations to make a lasting impact on the lives of those affected by the epidemic. Together, we can create a safer, healthier future for all residents of Manatee County.”
The Opioid Impact Grant invites highly qualified agencies that provide substance abuse and mental health services to residents of Manatee County to take advantage of this opportunity.
The goal is to support services that align with the Florida Opioid Allocation and Statewide Response Agreement, as well as the funding priorities. Proposals that focus on expanding, enhancing, or creating new programs or services to help reduce the impact of the opioid epidemic will be given priority for funding.
