At last week’s Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Stephanie Garrison, Director of Government Relations, addressed the Board to request approval to hire five new grant-funded positions for our Lasting Manatee (CDBG-DR) program.
These positions will support the implementation (construction and project management) and compliance (meeting federal requirements) for all recovery project activities in the six-year, $252 million CDBG-DR grant that is creating the Lasting Manatee initiative and programs. This will be fully paid for by the CDBG-DR funding from HUD, without requiring any spending from Manatee County Government and taxpayers.
The proposed staff roles include two intake specialists, a housing and development specialist, and two fiscal support staff. Each of these positions are essential to helping residents access our recovery programs and ensuring our County government stays in federal compliance.
