Lasting Manatee Attends CDBG-DR Grant Reporting Conference

Lasting Manatee Attends CDBG-DR Grant Reporting Conference - Lasting Manatee and US Dept of HUD

Earlier this week, members of Lasting Manatee (CDBG-DR) traveled from Bradenton to Clearwater, Florida, to dive into the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)’s Disaster Recovery Grant Reporting (DRGR) system. We arrived eager to learn and found the training rooms filled with other CDBG-DR teams from across our state. Over two days, HUD experts led us through every step of the reporting process. Their clear presentations set the stage for how we will ensure HUD is updated as we progress through our future CDBG-DR projects.

Each training session broke down the reporting workflow with slideshow walkthroughs and live demos. We also tackled a real-world case study that revealed how data entry processes and timelines flow from a project’s start to finish. Each exercise reinforced our confidence in navigating DRGR’s interface and taught us best practices for maintaining compliance.

Between sessions, HUD staff highlighted the HUDExchange online library as an key resource. Filled with step-by-step guides, downloadable templates, and video tutorials, this digital repository will continue to be utilized as we ensure each Lasting Manatee staff member is armed for success.

Beyond learning the ins and outs of the system, we seized the chance to network with other CDBG-DR grant administrators from across Florida. Gaining the added wisdom of other regions who have progressed through CDBG-DR grants from previous years gave us great insights for continuing to build out our workflows. We continue to strengthen our CDBG-DR peer network to ensure relevant support is available as we continue to grow.

Back at our office, we’re continuing to draft our standard operating procedures that incorporate the DRGR in the administration of our coming programs. Building out our reporting systems alongside our development of the housing, infrastructure, and mitigation programs ensures all activities will align confidently with HUD deadlines and requirements.

We will continue to look out for educational opportunities, ensuring we’re best equipped to run our coming programs effectively.
