Florida House Bill 803 New Single-Family Dwelling Building Permit Expiration Date
Effective July 1, 2026:
All new single-family dwelling building permits, that are issued on or after July 1st, 2026, will no longer expire 180-days from the date of issuance.
In accordance with Florida House Bill 803, building permits issued for single-family dwellings will now expire 1-year after the issuance of the permit, or on the effective date of the next edition of the Florida Building Code, whichever is later. The Florida Building Commission will provide further guidance as to extension request for those permits that exceed the expiration dates noted in the bill language.
