
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (December 30, 2022) – Manatee County Government offices will be closed on Monday, January 2, 2023, in observance of New Year’s Day.
Garbage, yard waste and recycling collections will occur on their regularly scheduled days. The Lena Road Landfill will be closed New Year’s Eve, December 31, and New Year’s Day, January 1, and will resume normal operations on Monday, January 2.
Manatee County public parks, preserves and beaches remain open to the public. Manatee County and Buffalo Creek golf courses will also be open through the New Year’s weekend and on January 2.
G.T. Bray Recreation Center will be closed on Sunday, January 1. The facility will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, and Monday, January 2.
Manatee County Public Libraries will be closed on Saturday, December 31; Sunday (as normal), New Year's Day, January 1; and Monday, January 2. All branches will reopen Tuesday, January 3, at their normal hours of operation.
Manatee County Animal Welfare operations will be closed to the public on Sunday, January 1. On Monday, January 2, the Bishop Animal Shelter will be open from noon to 3 p.m., Palmetto Adoption Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Cat Town will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On New Year's Eve, Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT) buses will keep their current schedules, but the trolleys will operate a little bit later, until about 12:30 a.m., to help people get home. While there will be no bus fixed route or Handy Bus service on New Year's Day, the Anna Maria Trolley will operate on its normal schedule. Bus operations will return to normal for all routes January 2.
