The campaign goal is to increase awareness about the many female Veterans who continue to play important roles in our community, as most continue to serve in one capacity or another. In addition, the Veterans Services' team would like to invite them to find out more about the benefits in which they might be entitled by contacting their office at (941) 745-3795.

Renee Medina, Senior Veterans Services Counselor, said their Veterans Services team has found that unlike their male counterparts, female Veterans are much less likely to seek other Veterans, join Veteran-related clubs or get support. They are also less identifiable by not donning Veterans hats or other attire.

“Female veterans are much less likely to consider themselves Veterans as well as learn about the benefits they have earned with their service. We believe by spotlighting these wonderful women, it will help encourage other female Veterans to feel proud, equal and encourage any who may be hesitant to reach out to our office,” said Medina.

The campaign, which kicks off on Sunday, March 14,  will consist of a daily post, categorized by those who are now protecting, educating, healing, raising our next generation, helping others plan for the future and serving those in need.

It can be found on Facebook @manateecountyveteransservices and @manateeneighbor and on Twitter and Instagram @manateeneighbor and will also be posted in the Veterans section of the Manatee County Website.
