Funding Information
Who is eligible to apply?
This Program is available to nonprofit organizations that meet specific requirements of the Manatee CARES Community Health and Wellbeing Category and the Economic Recovery for Individuals Category.
To be eligible for this funding, a nonprofit must meet the eligibility guidelines set forth below and submit an online application for review by the Neighborhood Services Department. The nonprofit must attest that their organization shall not replace or supplant existing funding and that they understand Federal law prohibits organizations from replacing State, Local or agency funds with Federal funds. Existing funds for a project and its activities may not be displaced by Federal funds and reallocated for other organizational expenses.
Eligible organizations must:
- Have an office physically located in Manatee County or an adjacent county
- Have evidence that the organization serves Manatee County residents
- Have evidence of local needs specific to COVID-19 impacts
- Be operating and registered with the State of Florida as a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6)
- If a nonprofit has received SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) or any other source of CARES funds, including from another County for Manatee County based employees and services, they MUST disclose how much was allocated to them and what the funds were expended on
The eligibility guidelines above may be adjusted by the County Administrator in future application rounds for Manatee CARES funding.
The County Administrator may also adjust these guidelines to include additional requirements for certification, accounting and reporting of expenditures to comply with State or Federal requirements for CARES Act expenditures.
What is funding available for?
To assist Manatee County nonprofits in their recovery efforts and in keeping with guidelines from the CARES Act, the following uses have been deemed eligible for Round Four.
Funding can only be used for expenses incurred from December 1, 2020, to April 30, 2021.
Program One: Community Health & Wellbeing
This category can be utilized to assist Manatee County nonprofits recover from the COVID-19 pandemic by providing a grant in increments of $1,000 up to $5,000 for:
- Facemasks
- Respirators
- Gloves
- Face Shields
- Eye Protection
- Gowns
- Temperature Scanning Devices
- Hand Sanitizer with alcohol content greater than 60%
- Soap, automatic faucets, automatic soap dispensers, paper towels and paper towel equipment (to include installation)
- Disinfecting Equipment, Products and Supplies
- Disinfecting/Cleaning Services
- Plexiglass Partitions (to include installation)
No repayment is required. Reimbursement requests are due May 15, 2021. Funds can only be used for PPE items listed above. Nonprofit must sign an attestation stating such on the application.
Program Two: Economic Recovery for Individuals Category
Funding for Program Two is no longer available.
What documentation is required?
During the application process, you will be required to upload the following to the online portal:
- Completed IRS form W-9
- Executed agreement with Manatee County (executed AFTER application approval)
- Proof of 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) status
- Proof of nonprofit's location in Manatee County or adjacent county (from County Property Appraiser)
The County reserves the right to monitor, inspect or request additional information for approved programs.
