Animal Services Advisory Board - Four Vacancies

Animal Services Advisory Board

Applications for the Animal Services Advisory Board are due by January 2. All appointments are four-year terms.


Three of the seats are for vacancies that will open January 27:

  • Two seats for citizens who are either corporate officers of, or have written authorization to represent, existing non-profit organizations, agencies or voluntary associations within the County with a primary mission of the care, handling or rescue of domestic animals. As to this category, no one organization, agency or association may have more than one representative holding one of these three representative seats at any given time.
  • One seat for a citizen with expertise in business development, finance and/or operations.

One seat is for a vacancy that will open March 9:

  • A citizen who does not fall within the foregoing categories, who is not associated with an existing rescue agency, and who, within two years prior to appointment, has volunteered for Manatee County Animal Services or an established private rescue agency within the County for at least ten days, as verified by the relevant agency.


Meetings are typically held the fourth Wednesday of the month or as determined by the Advisory Board at a 5:45 pm at Manatee County Animal Services, 305 25th St. W., Palmetto. All meetings are publicly noticed.

Children's Services Advisory Board - NAACP Seat

Children's Services Advisory Board

Applications are being accepted for the NAACP-designated seat on the Children's Services Advisory Board (CSAB), which makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners about priorities and expenditures of the County's dedicated millage for children's services.

Applications must be submitted by January 3.

Applications must include:

  • Advisory Board Application
  • Children’s Services Advisory Board Supplemental Questions
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)

To qualify for consideration, applicants must be a resident of Manatee County. Employees, owners or voting board members of agencies that receive funding from Manatee County, or individuals that contract with agencies that receive County funding, will not be considered to serve as a representative on this advisory board.


The open seats on the CSAB are for two-or three-year terms that begin October 1st.

The CSAB meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 3 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. The board meets weekly during the annual program funding review process from April through early June; and a full day retreat in October each year.

Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board - Two Vacancies

Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board

Applications are being accepted for two positions on the Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board, which hears cases regarding criminal nuisances on places or premises located in unincorporated areas of the county.

The two board seats are for two-year terms beginning Jan. 26. Applications are due December 23.


The Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board is composed of five members who are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Applicants should be Manatee County residents who are interested in providing administrative oversight with authority to impose administrative fines and other non-criminal penalties in order to provide equitable, expeditious and effective method of enforcing ordinances in the unincorporated areas of Manatee County. Familiarity with the County’s Nuisance Abatement ordinance is preferable.


The board meets on the second Monday of each month on an as-needed basis at 10 a.m. in the first floor chambers of Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton.

Tourist Development Council - One Vacancy

Tourist Development Council Advisory Board

Applications will be accepted until December 20 for one seat on the Tourist Development Council, a citizens advisory committee that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on the expenditures of tourist tax revenues.


The TDC is seeking to fill the seat of one elected municipal official who did not seek reelection to his elected position. The remainder of the TDC term expires June 30, 2020 at which time the appointee may re-apply to serve for a four-year term. All applicants must be registered voters in Manatee County.


The TDC is comprised of nine members who make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners concerning the effective operation of the projects set forth in the Tourist Development Plan and the uses for which tourist development tax revenues may be spent. Meetings are on the third Monday of every month at 9 a.m. at various locations throughout Manatee County.
