Current Advisory Board Opportunities

Healthcare Advisory Board - One Seat

Healthcare Advisory Board

Applications are being accepted for one vacancy on the Health Care Advisory Board, a volunteer group that evaluates, monitors and discusses the healthcare services in Manatee County and makes recommendations to the County Commission regarding the funding of healthcare services of Manatee County.

Manatee County is accepting applications for one representative of the substance abuse field.

Applications are due July 8, 2019, at 5 p.m.  Supplemental questions to the application are on page 5 of the form.  A resume or C.V. is also required for consideration for appointment to this advisory board. Please note, all information provided within applications will be made public. The application is available for download at the top of this page. All applicants must complete the new form, even if they have applied previously since the application has been updated.


Employees, owners or voting board members of agencies that receive funding from Manatee County Government, or individuals who contract with agencies that receive County funding are ineligible to serve on the board with the exception of practicing physician who may receive no more than one percent of their gross income from county-funded healthcare.


Applicants should be willing to meet a minimum of eight times per year on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 5-7 p.m. on the 9th Floor BCC Conference Room of the County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Avenue West. Other meetings may be scheduled as necessary.

Historic Preservation Board- Two Vacancies

Historic Preservation Board

Applications will be accepted until July 12, 2019, for two positions on the Historic Preservation Board, a citizens advisory committee that makes decisions regarding Manatee County’s archaeologically, historically and aesthetically significant sites, districts and zones.


  • Must be registered voters in Manatee County
  • Should have knowledge of archaeological, historical or architectural development, or a deep concern for the preservation, development and enhancement of historic resources in the County


The Historic Preservation Board is composed of five volunteer members who are appointed by the County Commission for four-year terms. The group meets a minimum of four times a year in the First Floor Chambers of the Manatee County Administrative Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W.

The board’s responsibilities include: 

  • Encourage historical and archaeological preservation.
  • Identify historic buildings and sites and archaeological sites in Manatee County.
  • Encourage property owners to seek local historic landmark designation. 
  • Ensure appropriate preservation, restoration, renovation, development and adaptive reuse of historical buildings and archaeological sites.
  • Develop and maintain a system of survey and inventory of historic properties.

Tourist Development Council Advisory Board-One Vacancy

Tourist Development Council Advisory Board

Applications will be accepted until July 10, 2019, for one seat on the Tourist Development Council, a citizens advisory committee that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on the expenditures of tourist tax revenues.


  • One seat for  an owner/operator (General Manager) of a motel, hotel, recreational vehicle park or other tourist accommodation in the County and subject to the 5 percent resort tax in Manatee County.
  • All applicants must be registered voters in Manatee County.


The TDC is comprised of nine members who make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners concerning the effective operation of the projects set forth in the Tourist Development Plan and the uses for which tourist development tax revenues may be spent. Meetings are on the third Monday of every month at 9 a.m. at various locations throughout Manatee County.

The hotelier term expires June 30, 2021.
