  • Obstructions - Containers must be easily accessible and free of obstructions and waste must not protrude above the top of the can.
  • Carpet - Carpet and padding must be rolled and tied in four (4) foot lengths, and placed curbside with your garbage for pick-up. Carpet and padding must not weigh more than 50 pounds per roll.
  • Paint Cans - Paint cans can be placed in the garbage if the following applies: there is no liquid inside the can and the lid has been removed. However, if liquid paint remains in the can, please use it, donate it, or dry it out before putting it in the garbage. Absorbents such as kitty litter or sand can be used to dry out paint cans. Manatee County Residents only can also bring any unused paint to the Lena Road Landfill Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or on the third Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Improperly sorted garbage - The waste haulers will not pick up residential garbage containers that have garbage mixed with yard waste or household hazardous waste. Bulky items; E-Scrap; or more than 2 tires require a special pickup, which may be requested by:
  • Separating materials at the curb - Separation by type of materials (household/furniture, yard waste, e-scrap/white goods, and tires) is important as separate trucks collect different materials. Proper separation will ensure prompt service.
