Action Requested
Adoption of Resolution R-13-184, authorizing revised contractor licensing fees, with an effective date of October 1, 2013.

Enabling/Regulating Authority
  • Section 489.117, Florida Statutes, authorizes counties, municipalities, and development districts to issue local licenses for contractors corresponding to the categories, defined in Subsection 489.105(3), Florida Statutes, and for local specialty contractors; and
  • Chapter 2-6, Article V, Code of Ordinances of Manatee County, Florida, provides rules and regulations for contractors in unincorporated Manatee County; and
  • Section 2-6-73, Code of Ordinances of Manatee County, Florida, establishes requirements for contractors in unincorporated Manatee County, including payment of any applicable fees; and
  • Subsection 2-6-76(a), Code of Ordinances of Manatee County, Florida, provides that fees for examination and licensing of contractors shall be established by resolution of the Board of County Commissioners.


Background Discussion
Resolution R-13-184 is repealing Resolution R-12-57. There is only one fee type that is being added under the specialty contractor category, which is Garage Door Installer fee of $80.00.
