Chapter 163, Part III, Florida Statutes

Background Discussion
  • On November 15, 2005, the Manatee County Community Redevelopment Agency adopted Resolution No. R-05-281 which established the Commercial Property Enhancement Matching Grant Program for 14th Street West community redevelopment area.  The purpose of the matching grant program was to provide financial assistance to eligible persons and entities for improving existing landscaping and making building façade improvements to enhance commercial property located within the boundaries of the 14th Street West community redevelopment area.
  • Projects funded from the matching grant program  must be approved by the Manatee County Community Redevelopment Agency, based on a recommendation of the 14th Street West CRA Advisory Board.
  • The matching grant program was consistent with and carried out the community redevelopment plan for 14th Street West community redevelopment area.  The matching grant program was financed by funds and revenues in the redevelopment trust fund for 14th Street West community redevelopment area.
  • Resolution No. R-05-281 authorized the Manatee County Community Redevelopment Agency to discontinue the matching grant program sixty (60) days after publishing notice in a newspaper of general circulation in the county of the agency’s intent to discontinue the program.
  • On June 17, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. R-14-88 which repealed and abolished the 14th Street West Community Redevelopment Area Advisory Board.
  • On September 23, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners enacted Ordinance No. 14-43 which repealed and terminated the redevelopment trust fund for 14th Street West community redevelopment area effective September 30, 2014.
  • On October 2, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners enacted Ordinance No. 14-50 which repealed and terminated the community redevelopment plan for 14th Street West community redevelopment area.
  • Repeal and abolition of the advisory board and repeal and termination of the redevelopment trust fund and the community redevelopment plan for 14th Street West community redevelopment area require the Manatee County Community Redevelopment Agency to repeal Resolution No. R-05-281 and discontinue the Commercial Property Enhancement Matching Grant Program.  Attached is a copy of Resolution No. R-14-151 which provides for publication of a notice discontinuing the matching grant program in a newspaper of general circulation.
