Action Requested
Adoption of a Comprehensive Plan text amendment to the Water Supply Sub-Element to amend reference to fire protection standards; an amendment to the Future Land Use Element to revise the title of the "North County Gateway Overlay District" to the "Florida International Gateway Overlay District"; an amendment to the Future Land Use Maps to revise the references to the name of the overlay district as described above (Future Land Use Maps Series/Maps 1 - 29) in regard to the legend on the map and text amendments to preserve internal consistency.

Background Discussion
- To recognize the wide ranging impact of Port Manatee and the surrounding areas, staff recommends amending the name of “North County Gateway” to “Florida International Gateway” overlay to more accurately reflect the successful activities of the area.
- The legend on the Future Land Use Map Series will also be amended from North County Gateway Overlay to Florida International Gateway Overlay.
- Any reference to the fire flow requirements are being removed from the Comprehensive Plan.
- Fire Flows are in accordance with NFPA 1(National Fire Protection Association) Standards and will be implemented by the various Fire Departments.
- On July 12, 2012, by a vote of 7 – 0, the Planning Commission recommended transmittal.
- On August 30, 2012 the State Land Planning Agency issued their no comment letter regarding this amendment.
