Adoption of Budget Amendment Resolution B-18-011 providing a transfer from reserves and amending the annual budget in the amount of $5,326,586. $3,526,586 from health care, general fund reserves and $1,800,000, from one time projects Lincoln Pool to be used for the Agency for Health Care Administration Low Income Pool Program for the State of Florida fiscal year 2017/18.
Florida Statutes 129.06 authorizes the Board of County Commissioners to amend its annual budget.
On 09/25/17 - The Board of County Commissioners approved the FY2018 annual County Budget which included 1.8 million dollars in reserve.
On 09/26/17 - At the Board of County Commissioners regular board meeting the board approved the use of the 1.8 million dollars in reserve to be used for the Low Income Pool (LIP) Health Care program participation with the State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration.
The 1.8 million dollars was originally identified for use in 2018 for set aside for the Lincoln Pool project. The moving of these funds to the LIP Program does not negatively impact or delay the process for the Lincoln Pool nor does it reduce the availability of funds for 2019, when design and construction of the pool is scheduled to commence.
Budget Amendment B-18-011 provides for the transfer of a total of $5,326,586 from reserves in the General Fund. This transfer of $3,526,586 set aside for health care in the General Fund and $1,800,000 set aside for one time projects in the General Fund allows for the County to finalize the Federal Low Income Pool program with the State and enter into agreements of $3,526,586, Manatee Memorial Hospital; $330,732 Blake Medical Center; and $1,469,268 Manatee County Rural Health.
Each of the three providers is required to formally enter into an agreement with the County to participate in the Health Information Exchange (HIE), provide data on services provided and move toward less expensive community health treatment services.
