Section 189.071, Florida Statutes
· The Manatee County Community Redevelopment Agency was created as a dependent special district comprised of the Board of County Commissioners under the authority of Chapter 163, Part III, Florida Statutes, as the community redevelopment agency for 14th Street West and South County community redevelopment areas.
· On January 7, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners voted to authorize County staff to prepare the necessary documents to dissolve the existing 14th Street West and South County community redevelopment areas and establish a new Southwest County Improvement District. On June 3, 2014, the Commission adopted Ordinance No. 14-28 creating the District effective October 1, 2014.
· During the past two months, the Board of County Commissioners has repealed and rescinded all resolutions and ordinances which created the community redevelopment agency and established the community redevelopment areas for 14th Street West and South County.
· Subsection 189.071(1), Florida Statutes requires the Board of County Commissioners, as the local general-purpose governmental entity, to enact an ordinance dissolving the Manatee County Community Redevelopment Agency as a dependent special district and the community redevelopment agency and community redevelopment areas for 14th Street West and South County. Attached is a copy of Ordinance No. 14-55 which has been noticed for public hearing at the meeting on November 6, 2014.
