Durable Medical Equipment Lending Program

Contact and/or Presenter Information
Adoption of Resolution R-17-055 allowing the Director of the Public Safety Department or his/her designee to execute standard loan agreements to enable community members to borrow medical equipment as needed.
The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Lending Closet is a community paramedic program partnership. A community need has been identified among the low-income, elderly, and disabled populations that are currently being served by the Community Paramedicine Program. Presently, several of the community paramedic patients are unable to afford medical equipment and/or medical equipment is not readily available to them. Developing and organizing a community based DME lending closet is an easily obtainable solution to this problem.
The DME lending closet is a resource for people to discard their unwanted/unneeded medical equipment while meeting a need for someone else in the community. Donated equipment would then be loaned to Manatee County Citizens who are unable to obtain prescribed medical equipment for themselves.
