Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program Funding Agreement For Federal Fiscal Year 2014

Authorization for Chairman to execute the Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program Funding Agreement for FY 2014 between Manatee County and The Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council (SWFRPC) for County share funding of the Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program (CHNEP) in the amount of $5,000.

On January 15, 1995, Manatee County joined with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region IV, the Southwest Florida Water Management District, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the South Florida Water Management District, the Department of Community Affairs, the Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission, the Central Florida Regional Planning Council, the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council, Lee County, Charlotte County, Sarasota County, Hardee County, Polk County, DeSoto County, Cities and Towns of Bartow, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, Sanibel, Punta Gorda, Venice, North Port, Cape Coral, Winter Haven, Fort Myers Beach and Arcadia to financially participate as non-federal sponsors of the CHNEP to prepare products and schedules under a work plan to develop a Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) for the Charlotte Harbor Estuary and Watershed. The Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council administers the personnel and contract management compliance requirements of the program.
Manatee County's annual financial share to the program is $5,000 based upon portioned share between the members. $5,000 is budgeted each year under the Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources Department and released under an annual funding agreement with the CHNEP through its administrative entity, the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council.
Manatee County's $5,000 share is dedicated to Outreach.
The 2014 Agreement and Scope of Work directly benefit Manatee County by environmental stewardship, wetlands restoration, community outreach and education activities to enhance fisheries and living resources, recreational management, tracking relevant legislation, letter of support as appropriate to legislators and policy makers, presenting the Legislative Agenda to State and Federal Legislative Delegations throughout the CHNEP study area, public involvement activities.
