Action Requested
ADOPT Resolution R-16-061.

Enabling/Regulating Authority

Florida Statutes, Section 336.09 et sec., Closing and Abandonment of Roads, Authority, and Section 336.10 et sec., Publication of Notice; and

Manatee County Land Development Code, Section 331, Vacation of Streets and Plats.



Background Discussion
  • Applicants, Manasara Corp., and Tennessee Street Property, LLC, have requested vacating a portion of road right-of-way at Broadway and Tennessee Avenue in Sarasota, Florida 34243.
  • Broadway and Tennessee Avenue are roads on the plat of North Sarasota, recorded in Plat Book 2, Page 151 of the Official Records of Manatee County, Florida.
  • The purpose of the request is to vacate portions of the unimproved roads for the applicants to close a sales contract with a developer to develop the northern adjacent parcel as an apartment complex.
  • Adoption of Resolution R-16-061 is also a requirement for consideration of rezoning application #PDR-15-13-ZP. 
  • Jurisdictional reviews by appropriate County departments and private utilities serving the area have been notified and all conditional responses were addressed and satisfied.
  • The application complies with pertinent Florida Statutes and Manatee County's Land Development Code.
  • All expenses associated with the subject vacation will be paid by the applicant.
  • Manatee County's application filing fee of $800.00 has been paid.
