Interlocal Agreement regarding Wetlands Mitigation Activities
Contact and/or Presenter Information
Charlie Hunsicker, Director, Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources
Execution of the presented Interlocal Agreement regarding Wetland Mitigation Activities between Manatee and Sarasota Counties which establishes specific powers, privileges, and authority as they relate to wetland mitigation activities proposed for performance in Manatee County.
Florida Statute 125
A Permittee has proposed wetland impacts in Sarasota County for which the proposed wetland mitigation is to occur on an approximately 40 Acre privately owned outparcel surrounded by Rye Preserve (Refer to Map). Mitigation would facilitate that outparcel to be ecologically enhanced with a condition that it be conveyed to Manatee County upon restoration for perpetual care and public ownership. As such, this parcel will be incorporated into Rye Preserve, increasing the preserve's total acreage to over 400 acres under management. Parks and Natural Resources Department staff has determined that acquisition of this out parcel is in agreement with management goals and would add value and ease of management to the benefit of Rye Preserve and its visitors.
