  • ADOPT Resolution R-17-054; and
  • Execution of Contract for Sale and Purchase of Real Property with the Manatee County Chapter No. 18 Disabled American Veterans, Inc.; and
  • Execution of County Deed.

Background Discussion
  • The Manatee County Chapter No. 18 Disabled American Veterans Inc.currently has a long-term lease of county property located on 63 Avenue East (see Location Map below).
  • The Disabled American Veterans Chapter has requested that Manatee County terminate the lease and convey the property to the Chapter.
  • This conveyance will transfer ownership from Manatee County to Manatee County Chapter No. 18 Disabled American Veterans, Inc. This property is known as the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Building.
  • The deed includes a provision reserving the utility easement and a reverter clause in case the property is ever put to a non-public-purpose use.
  • The DAV Building is being conveyed "as is" and will terminate the long-term (99 year) lease that is set to expire in 2057.
  • The property is currently leased to the DAV as part of a long-term lease made August 28, 1958.
  • An internal jurisdictional review was completed by appropriate county departments and no objections were raised with the conveyance.
