Background Discussion
  • On October 7, 2008, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution R-08-226 creating the Manatee County Mental Health and Substance Abuse Planning Council (MHSAPC).
  • The duties of the MHSAPC included investigating and applying for grants on behalf of the County as authorized in Florida Statute.
  • The MHSAPC is an optional group, and, per statute, grants may be applied for in cooperation with the Public Safety Coordinating Council (PSCC)
  • The PSCC is currently active and pursues annual grants.  Local mental health and substance abuse organizations are included on the PSCC and obtain grant funds.
  • The MHSAPC has not convened since 2010.
  • No current funding for projects or grants under the authority of the MHSAPC are available.  No grants have been available for several years.
