Background Discussion
  • The Accord was adopted by Manatee County and its  jurisdictions in 2002 to address growth management and overall intergovernmental coordination. The Accord specifically addressed a process for annexations outside the Urban Development Zone (UDZ).
  • Per the agreement, the County reviews annexation requests for consistency with the Accord. Those annexations outside the UDZ are presented to the Joint Planning Committee for their consideration.
  • An annexation request (City # AX-15-3628) was forwarded to the County for property located at 1016 64th St. Ct. E. The property is adjacent to the City of Bradenton's jurisdiction to the west.  Staff reviewed the request (please see September 28, 2015 memo). Annexation request went before the September 30, 2015 Joint Planning Committee, and no objections were raised.
