Background Discussion
In early 2015, Manatee County Government established the Manatee Millennial Movement (M3) with over 40 Millennial employees of various Departments in the County.

The group was established to help shape the future vision of the County for Millennials and with the theme of "Stop Talking About Us and Start Talking To Us."

Since the establishment of the group, they have dealt with topics important to millennials in the areas of housing, networking, financial stability, entrepreneurship, and how to take ownership of your community.

The group M3 has forged a partnership with other young professional groups, The Manatee Young Professionals from the Manatee Chamber, Thought Leaders from the Bradenton Economic Development Corporation, Realize Bradenton, and Habitat for Humanity.

The group hosted the over 500 attendees of the #iSeeManatee Event in April of 2015 to collect visionary ideas from the community about the Southwest County Improvement District.

Also, they coordinated a young family event called Books, Bots, and Bites - Pop Up through a partnership with Realize Bradenton, held at the Central Library in November of 2015.

The M3 group is hosting the first ever MCon Conference to be held at the Convention Center on April 1 - 3, 2016.  The event has a small registration fee and is supported by other local sponsors.  The group expects over 100 Millennials to participate in the three-day event, through a registration effort on eventbrite.com.

If successful, M3 seeks to hold a national conference of a similar nature in 2017.  All efforts by the group are to create awareness of the local Bradenton/Manatee County area and to attract and retain millennials.

Proceeds received from the eventbrite.com registration will go toward expenses for the 2016 and 2017 MCon events. The specific 2017 MCon date has not been established at this time.
