11.1.4 Efficiency in Service Delivery
Manatee County has an opportunity to apply for a FY2015 U.S. EPA Brownfields community-wide coalition assessment grant in the amount of $600,000 ($300,000 for hazardous substances and $300,000 for petroleum).
Manatee County, as lead applicant, has joined with the City of Bradenton, the City of Palmetto, and the Sarasota-Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization in pursuit of this grant.
The grant funds will be used to assess and remediate potential brownfields sites along Tamiami Trail in the cities of Bradenton and Palmetto. Through these efforts, the goal is to revitalize the economy, protect the environment, and to promote healthy surroundings for those residents living and working in the target area.
