Manatee County Comprehensive Plan
Manatee County Land Development Code
Florida Impact Fee Act
Manatee County has collected impact fees on new development since 1986. The county currently collects impact fees for roads, parks, public safety, and law enforcement.
Section 1108.9 of the Land Development Code requires that the County complete a new impact fee study at least once every 5 years. As the last study was done over 4 years ago, we are approaching the 5-year mark. The County has therefore contracted with TischlerBise to perform a new, updated impact fee study. That study, now completed, documents the data and formulas used to calculate new recommended impact fees.
In addition to the impact fees currently collected, the study recommends the adoption of a new impact fee for libraries. The study also recommends some changes to the County's current approach in the assessment of road/transportation impact fees.
This study was recently presented to the Board of County Commissioners at an earlier work session on October 13, 2015. Now that the study has been available for review by commissioners and the community for a month, this worksession will provide additional information and address issues and questions that have been raised.
