Grant for Thinking Money Exhibit

Authorization for the Board of County Commissioners to accept a grant from the American Library Association in the amount of $1,000 to provide financial literacy programming; and authorization for Ava Ehde, Library Services Manager, to execute Letter of Agreement with the American Library Association.
Adoption of Budget Resolution B-16-064, increasing funds to align revenues and expenditures for the project.
The Manatee County Public Library System has been awarded a $1,000 programming grant for "Thinking Money," a museum-quality traveling exhibition that will be showcased from December 12, 2017 - January 23, 2018.
The proceeds of the grant will be used to complement the exhibit, including a cooking demonstration to prepare inexpensive yet nutritious meals, presentations centered on preventing identity theft and fraud, and informational sessions on banking and financial goal-setting for tweens and teens. The culminating event is Big Bank Theory, presented by Manatee Chamber of Commerce. Big Bank Theory is a hands-on simulation to teach financial literacy education.
