Adopt Proclamation designating August 7, 2017, as "Purple Heart Day" in Manatee County, Florida.
Manatee County is designating August 7, 2017, as Purple Heart Day in accordance with State legislation (FS Chapter 683.146).
The Florida Senate and House of Representatives unanimously passed legislation in 2012 establishing an annual Purple Heart Day in Florida, to be recognized on August 7th of each year.
In May 2012, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed a law establishing August 7 of every year as Purple Heart Day in Florida.
Current Purple Heart recipients of Manatee County will be present.
The division, with the assistance of departmental personnel, is developing a submission for a Manatee County Resolution designating the county a Purple Heart County.
The resolution would be accompanied by designated parking at county owned buildings and signage aboard all MCAT buses.
