Background Discussion

As Animal Services continues to move forward with the plan for Manatee County to become a no kill community, getting lost pets back home is important. This part of the plan will be assisted by the ability to implant microchips in impounded dogs and cats claimed by their owners. Microchips ensure the pet can be returned home.

The Bishop Foundation donation ($6,000) will be used to purchase microchips.

Improvements to kennel feeding and water holders is necessary to assist shelter staff with taking care of the impounded dogs.

The Parker Foundation donation ($2,000) will be used to assist with these improvements.

Gift letters were received from both the Bishop Foundation and Parker Foundation.
