Background Discussion

On January 10, 2015, our crew of Ashely Landis  and Michelle Betts responded to a reported house fire.  Upon their arrival they found the fire department engaged in suppression activities.  Both Paramedics assured that there were no injuries with the homeowners and stayed with them during the event.  The family expressed concern about their family pet named Bear, a dog that was last known to still be in the house.  The fire department rescued the dog and brought him outside where both paramedics "jumped" into action to revive the family pet.  After several minutes the dog responded to their efforts and began to move around.  At this point the owner of the pet rushed him to the animal hospital for further treatment.

After the incident both paid a visit to the Vet Clinic to follow up on "Bear's" progress, and it was happy to report that Bear was doing better and was going to have to stay the night for further treatment.  It was brought out through conversation that the owner was not financially prepared to pay for Bear's care.  They both decided without hesitation and with kindness to provide some financial support to the family.

Understanding, that we as emergency responders treat patients of all types of magnitude each and every day.  But when this unique situation was faced, they had no hesitation to provide the utmost care and treatment to Bear and provide some monetary support to the family.

We would like to acknowledge your display of our customer service philosophy and kindness.  Your dedication to excellence in the field of emergency medicine in Manatee County is greatly appreciated.
