Action Requested

Authorization to waive the County Landfill tipping fees in the amount of $20,313.00 by permitting the contractor for the Snead Island Stormwater Sediment Removal Project to haul the sediment from Snead Island to the County Landfill for use as daily cover material which will offset purchase and use of other daily cover purchased annually by Landfill Operations.

Background Discussion
  • August 24, 2012, the BCC approved a Pilot Stormwater Discharge Maintenance Program.  The program objective is to clean sediment at each of the stormwater outfall pipes discharging into any public navigational channel.
  • The 100% Plans and Specs for Snead Island are currently being reviewed and are expected to be sent to Purchasing the week of August 12th.  It is anticipated that approximately 333 cubic yards of sediment will be removed.  This sediment will be dewatered in order to pass the paint filter test before transporting to the Landfill.
