Sarah Brown, Chief Animal Services Division, x8346
Adopt Resolution R-17-037, re-establishing the spay neuter program for qualified owners, and rescind previously adopted Resolution R-15-128.
Resolution R-15-128, previously adopted for implementation of the spay and neuter program
The Board of County Commissioners has determined the spaying and neutering of dogs and cats is the most cost effective method of animal control for Manatee County.
The Board of County Commissioners previously adopted Resolution R-15-128 updating the established Manatee County Spaying and Neutering Program for cats and dogs.
The new Resolution, R-17-037, reflects a change in the fee schedule as well as the addition of juvenile sterilization. The current Resolution, R-15-128, has approved fees of up to $100 and sterilization for animals to begin at 6 months and 5 lbs. The new resolution includes juvenile sterilization for animals 2 months and 2 lbs., as well as a graduated pricing for sterilization services which more closely reflects the actual costs for sterilization services. The proposed fee structure is as follows: $40 cat neuter, $45 cat spay, $75 dog neuter, $80 dog spay. These fees will allow for Manatee County to make a bigger impact on accessible sterilization services for those who qualify.
