Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT), a service of Manatee County Government, offers ten routes serving Bradenton, Ellenton, Palmetto and the Gulf Beach communities of Manatee County. Buses run hourly 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday – Saturday. No service is offered Sundays or the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (after 3 p.m.) and Christmas Day. The fare is $1.25, transfers $.25 each — exact fare; U.S. coins and currency only or M Card transit pass. MCAT fixed routes connect with the FREE Manatee Trolley on Anna Maria Island. Daily service runs from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every 20 minutes from the Anna Maria City Pier on the north to Coquina Beach on the south. Trolleys offer both air conditioned and open-air seating.
Beginning June 14, 2008, MCAT will partner with SCAT in operating the Longboat Key Trolley from Coquina Beach on Anna Maria Island to downtown Sarasota via Longboat Key and St. Armands Circle. Daily service runs from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. every 30 minutes. Trolleys offer both air conditioned and open-air seating. The fare is $.75.
MCAT also offers door-to-door Handy Bus (paratransit) service by appointment only for those people who qualify due to age, disability or other reasons.
