So just how big is Sandy? This is a model depiction of the height and wind field at 925 mb, which is generally a couple thousand feet above sea level (just above the surface). The circulation is over 1500 miles wide from east to west and is even wider north to south. It encompasses the entire eastern United States from the Mississippi River well into the Atlantic and extends from eastern Canada to Florida.

This is just a monster of a low pressure system to say the least and one that will be remembered for a long time to come.
