New Workshop Open to All Writers Looking to the Stage

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (February 5, 2018) –  Ever wanted to make a writing piece come to life? Now is your chance, with a six-week course at Manatee Libraries, focused on writing a complete play (that lasts only 10 minutes).

Why 10 minutes? They are easier to get produced than full-length productions because they require easy sets and are less risky to produce. Often times, they are combined with other 10-minute performances.

Leading the class will be award-winning playwright, Sam Mossler, of Florida Studio Theater. He will guide students through the drafting, rewriting and editing process through writing exercises, story prompts and the exploration of basic playwriting skills.

Mossler’s play, The Ghost of Firs Nikolaich, enjoyed several productions in New York, including the New York International Fringe Festival. His screenplay, Og’s Utopia was honored as a semi-finalist at the Austin Film Festival.

The playwriting workshop is made possible due to a partnership with Florida Studio Theatre and Friends of the Central Library sponsorship.

The class meets weekly on Wednesdays, from February 14 to March 21, 6 to 8 PM, at Downtown Central Library, which is located at 1301 Barcarrota Blvd. W., Bradenton 34205.  To register, email jyna.johnson@mymanatee.org or call 748-5555, x6308.
