Congratulations to the Winner of Our Flash Fiction Contest to See Nicholas Sparks on February 7, 2017!
Thank you to everyone who etered our flash fiction contest. We enjoyed reading every piece and were impressed with each writer’s creative take on our premise to write a story about a relationship. We were excited that many of our fiction workshop participants entered our contest. Our winner is “Chemistry” by Jennifer Ammon. She will receive a complimentary ticket to see Nicholas Sparks on February 7, 2017. Her story will be published in the January 2017 online issue of 805 Lit + Art at www.805lit.org.
Youth Services Coordinator, Chris O'Hara, provides an overview of Early Literacy Kits (ELK). These fun kits, designed for children up to age 8, contain books, games, CDs, visual aids and interactive materials that help kids learn to master reading and develop a superior comprehension and vocabulary. There are different kits designed for specific ages, ranging from birth through Third Grade. Each kit can be checked out or requested at any of the library’s six branch locations and kept for three weeks.
