Geographic Information Systems
Welcome to the GIS Section's home page. We are often asked,"What is GIS?" Simply put, GIS, or Geographic Information System, is any information system that integrates, stores, edits, analyzes, shares, and displays geographic information. In a more generic sense, GIS applications are tools that allow users to create interactive queries (user-created searches), analyze spatial information, edit data and/or maps, and present the results of all these operations.
This GIS Maps & Data page is where you will find links to our interactive map services, static maps and our GIS data which is available for download. We do have many more layers in our enterprise geodatabase so if you do not see the layer you need on the Data Download page, please contact the GIS section. read on GIS Maps and Data
Meet the staff of Manatee County's GIS group. Besides those listed below, there are many other folks throughout the county whose efforts contribute greatly to the overall success of the county's GIS efforts. For example the utility data is maintained by the Utility Records Section of Public Works, and our parcel data is maintained by the Mapping Group of the Property Appraiser's Office. read on GIS Contact Us
