Manatee County Community Services Department is accepting applications of up to $175,000 in financial assistance from public and private schools, to enhance the driver education programs those learning institutions provide.

From September 20, 2017 through October 4, 2017, public and private schools that offer drive education courses, may apply for the state funding administered by Manatee County.   To access the application, click here.

The Manatee County Driver Education Safety Trust Fund is made possible through the Dori Slosberg Driver Education Safety Act, named for Dori Slosberg, who was killed in a 1996 car accident in which another teenager was driving.  Dori was the 14-year-old daughter of Democratic State Representative, Irv Slosberg.  The Safety Act allows Florida counties to collect an additional $5 with each civil traffic penalty to be put toward improving teenage driving skills.
