Manatee County announces 2015 holiday schedule

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Nov. 18, 2015) – Below is a listing of upcoming holiday closures across Manatee County Government. County offices will be closed:

Thanksgiving on Thurs., Nov. 26 and Fri., Nov. 27;
Christmas Eve (Thurs., Dec. 24) and Christmas Day (Fri., Dec. 25);
and New Year's Day (Friday., Jan 1, 2016).

 On the days government offices are closed public parks, preserves and beaches remain open to the public. Manatee County and Buffalo Creek golf courses will remain open throughout the holidays.

 

G.T. Bray Recreation Center will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 26 and Fri., Nov. 27, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Rec Center will close at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and it will be closed on New Year's Day. 

 

Manatee County public libraries will be closed for Thanksgiving from Nov. 26-Nov. 28. Libraries will close for Christmas on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, and reopen on Dec. 26. Libraries that normally close at 8 p.m. on Thursday, will close at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. All libraries will be closed on New Year's Day. 

 

Garbage, yard waste and recycling are suspended on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Collection services are postponed one day for the remainder of the week and resume the following Monday. 

 

MCAT fixed route, Handy Bus, and Longboat Key Trolley services will not be available on Thanksgiving Day.

 

Fixed route and Handy Bus services will stop running at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The Longboat Key Trolley and the Anna Maria Trolley will stop running at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

 

On Christmas Day there will be no fixed route, Handy Bus, or Longboat Key Trolley service. The Anna Maria Trolley and beach express will run regular service on Christmas Day. On New Year's Eve all MCAT buses and trolleys will run regular service. Anna Maria Trolley will run extended hours until 1 a.m.  On New Year's Day there will be no fixed route, Handy Bus, para transit or Longboat Key Trolley service, but the Anna Maria Trolley and beach express will run regular service.
