Manatee County Public Library System Receives Recycling Award

  • Sep 21, 2015

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Sept, 21, 2015) – Last Thursday night, Keep Manatee Beautiful presented the Manatee County Public Library System with a Recycling Award for its 2015 Recycled Dreams Teen Fashion Show. The library won the award for the Government category.

The Recycled Dreams Teen Fashion Show enables Manatee County youth, ages 13 to 19, to present an original fashion design they’ve created using recycled materials. Designers and their models receive free hair styling and make up before hitting the runway, thanks to local cosmetology students.

“We are extremely proud of our Recycled Dreams Fashion Show team. We have over 20 Library staff members and volunteers who put this event together. We also have some impressive local judges, representing local Arts organizations. They maintain relationships with Manatee County Schools to recruit new talent and work with other local organizations to put together a professional show,” said Ava Ehde, Library Services Manager.

The Recycled Dreams Fashion Show has become an annual event, the third of which is scheduled for Saturday, April 16, 2016. Keep Manatee Beautiful has offered to be a sponsor. For more information about becoming a contestant or sponsor of this event, contact 941-748-5555.
