Central Library hosts Aug. 31 Hiring Fair

  • Aug 25, 2015

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (August 25, 2015) – “Ready. Set. Job.” is the slogan of Manatee County Central Library’s Hiring Fair, scheduled to take place Monday, Aug. 31, from 1-4 p.m. This is the library’s third annual hiring fair, and if the past two year’s results are any indication, job seekers should get ready for the possibility of being hired because of the contacts they make.

“Last year’s event drew nearly 140 job seekers which led to at least 15 placements and additionally dozens of subsequent interviews in positions ranging from retail to manufacturing to administrative. One person was even offered a job on the spot,” said Ava Ehde, Library Services Manager.

Ericka Dow, Information Services Supervisor, said Central Library puts on the Hiring Fair to help provide patrons with more focused employment help.

“We offer resume and job search help to our patrons on a regular basis, but this hiring fair provides a more comprehensive approach by enabling community members to connect to prospective employers face to face,” said Dow. “This venue enables them to find out firsthand about local organizations and can even lead to impromptu interviews.”

Job seekers are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes or a file on a USB drive and dress their best to meet with representatives from over 20 local companies, manufacturers, employment agencies and community agencies, including the Suncoast Mobile Career Center. Brief resume consultations will be made available.

Central Library is located at 1301 Barcarrota Boulevard West, Bradenton 34205, and the event will take place in the auditorium.
