MANATEE COUNTY, FL (March 19, 2015) – Manatee County Commissioners Tuesday will consider purchasing the former Bright House building at 3500 Ninth Street W., Bradenton for Manatee Sheriff’s Office space needs.

An agenda item for the Commission’s March 24 meeting seeks the Board’s approval for $2.9 million to purchase and renovate the 25,188 square foot building. The Sheriff’s Office has proposed using a state grant to provide a lease payment to cover the annual debt service payment for the purchase price.

The building is located less than half a mile west of Sheriff’s Office headquarters, 600 U.S. 301.

Manatee County Government staff continues to work closely with Manatee Tax Collector Ken Burton on a suitable facility to expand driver license operations.
