MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Jan. 27, 2015) – Manatee County Government will host the second ever United Way Clay Shoot at Ancient Oak Gun Club on Saturday, Feb. 7.

Event organizers Mary Pendleton-Brown and Amy Shaffer say the event is open to the public for both experienced and novice shooters. Four-person teams will compete in a 50-bird shootout during the event.

Lunch and ammunition are included in the price of admission, $75 per shooter before Jan. 30 or $85 per shooter or $340 for a team of four. All proceeds benefit the United Way of Manatee. There will be live music by the Butch Castetter Band from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We’re always thinking of new ways to raise funding and awareness for the United Way,” Pendleton-Brown says. “This year we’re trying something different and people are getting excited about this skeet shoot. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Registration begins at 8 a.m. on the day of the event. A brief safety instruction will begin at 8:30 and shooting begins at 9. Lunch will be served at noon. Awards will be given at 2 p.m. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place teams and the high overall shooter.

The Gun Club has 24 shooting stations on two separate courses which are operated by a wireless, radio-controlled launching system that also offers a delay for the individual shooter and a 5-stand for shotgun shooting enthusiasts.
