Tourist Development Council

Purpose

It is the duty of the Tourist Development Council to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners concerning the effective operation of the projects set forth in the Tourist Development Plan and the uses for which Tourist Development Tax Revenue may be expended.

Membership Requirements

The Board consists of nine members in the following categories:

  • one member of the Board of County Commissioners who shall serve as chairman (yearly appointment) two elected municipal officials, one being from the largest municipality (4 year term);
  • four members who are owners or operators of hotels, motels or other accommodations in Manatee County and ARE subject to the 5% resort tax in Manatee County (4 year term);
  • two members who are involved in the tourist industry and have demonstrated an interest in tourism but who are NOT subject to the 5% resort tax in Manatee County (4 year term);
  • All must be electors of Manatee County.

 

Meetings

The third Monday of every other month at 9:00 a.m. in various locations throughout Manatee County.
